DEME Group’s state-of-the-art offshore installation vessel, ‘Green Jade,’ has successfully completed its first assignment in Taiwan. The vessel played a pivotal role in installing the 31st and final jacket foundation at the Zhong Neng wind farm, marking a milestone in the region’s renewable energy landscape.
The Zhong Neng project, a 300 MW wind farm located offshore Changhua, is a key development in Taiwan’s push towards sustainable energy. Prior to ‘Green Jade’s’ involvement, the jack-up vessel ‘Apollo’ had completed the placement of 93 pin piles, setting the stage for the final foundation installation. ‘Green Jade’ showcased its capabilities, particularly its 4,000-tonne capacity crane, which played a crucial role in the success of the project.
The completion of the foundation installation on schedule is a testament to the collaborative efforts and open communication between CDWE (CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering), a Taiwanese joint venture, and the project’s client, Zhong Neng. The successful coordination between CDWE’s local engineers, DEME’s European technical team, and the client ensured that the Zhong Neng wind farm stays on track to become Taiwan’s first locally developed landmark wind farm, meeting all established milestones within the original timeline.
The milestone achievement not only highlights the technical prowess of DEME Group but also emphasizes CDWE’s commitment to fostering local talent in Taiwan. The collaborative approach ensures project success and contributes to a sustainable future for Taiwan through green energy initiatives.
The successful deployment of ‘Green Jade’ and the collaboration between international expertise and local talent demonstrate the industry’s dedication to meeting renewable energy goals. As Taiwan continues to make strides in its renewable energy sector, DEME Group’s achievement sets a benchmark for efficient project execution and sustainable development.
