Seaway7 and Dong Fang Offshore Collaborate to Boost Offshore Wind Presence in Taiwan

Seaway7 and Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) have officially joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic collaboration aims to enhance their collective capabilities and bolster their position in the burgeoning offshore wind market in Taiwan. The primary focus of this partnership is the development of a robust, localized cable installation offering tailored to the specific needs of Taiwanese offshore wind projects.

Seaway7, with a presence in Taiwan since 2017, has played a pivotal role in the region’s offshore wind landscape. With over 100 employees spread across their Taipei office and marine operations base in Taichung, Seaway7 brings extensive project management, engineering, and installation expertise. The company boasts a global track record, having successfully deployed more than 2,500km of submarine cables for offshore wind projects. Currently engaged in four cable installation projects in Taiwan, Seaway7 is connecting over 2.5GW to the Taiwan Electricity Grid.

Dong Fang Offshore, a fully Taiwanese entity established in 2019, is set to contribute its profound local market knowledge, coupled with world-class assets and marine operations expertise. This collaboration marks a strategic alignment, leveraging Seaway7’s global experience and DFO’s deep understanding of the local dynamics.

Stuart Fitzgerald, CEO of Seaway7, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “The intended partnership with Dong Fang Offshore builds on our existing successful business relationship and aligns with our strategy to be a long-term presence in Taiwan.
