CMA CGM Group Adjusts Services Due to Finnish Port Strikes

CMA CGM Group, has announced adjustments to its services due to ongoing political labor actions affecting all Finnish ports. The strike, which commenced on March 11th, has been extended until April 7th midnight, impacting the company’s operations in the region.

As a result of this unforeseen circumstance, CMA CGM Group has been compelled to adapt its rotations, necessitating the omission of Finnish ports by its vessels. Import cargo destined for Finland will either be discharged in Tallinn, Estonia, or, upon the resumption of normal operations following the strike, transshipped to Finland from Tallinn.

Affected customers are presented with two options:

  1. Shipments to Tallinn, Estonia: Customers may choose to have their cargo shipped to Tallinn, Estonia, in accordance with clause 10 of the company’s Terms & Conditions.
  2. Delivery to Final Destination in Finland: Alternatively, customers have the option to wait for the strike to conclude and have their cargo delivered directly to its final destination in Finland. However, cargo destined for Finland will incur a freight adjustment of EUR 350 per container to offset additional costs arising from the force majeure situation.

Standard storage, demurrage, and detention conditions will be applicable to all cargo awaiting shipment during this period.

In certain cases, limited opportunities for cargo delivery to Finland via ferry are available on a case-by-case basis. Customers are advised to contact their local representatives for further information, including pricing details upon request.

CMA CGM Group extends its apologies for the inconvenience caused by this unexpected situation, emphasizing that it is beyond their control. The company assures customers that it is making every effort to minimize disruptions and provide necessary assistance.
