DHL Global Forwarding Announces Leadership Changes in Air Freight Division

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its global leadership team, DHL Global Forwarding, a renowned player in the air and ocean freight industry and a subsidiary of DHL Group, has unveiled key changes in its top management. The reshuffling involves the transition of Thomas Mack, the current Executive Vice President for Air Freight, into a significant new role as Senior Advisor.

Taking the helm of DHL Global Forwarding’s Air Freight division on October 1, 2023, will be Max Sauberschwarz, a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in logistics. Sauberschwarz is presently the Senior Vice President of Global StarBroker, the air charter arm of DHL Global Forwarding. His extensive expertise in the air freight sector, coupled with his successful tenure within the organization, positions him well to drive innovation and growth in the evolving landscape of global air freight.

Max Sauberschwarz’s remarkable journey in logistics commenced in 2019 when he assumed the role of Senior Vice President Global StarBroker at DHL Global Forwarding. Throughout his career, he has held pivotal leadership positions, contributing significantly to the development and success of the air freight sector. His elevation to the Head of Global Air Freight signifies a continued commitment to excellence and innovation within DHL’s air freight operations.

Both Mack and Sauberschwarz will operate under the guidance of Tim Scharwath, the CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, during the transition period. This strategic realignment comes as DHL Global Forwarding solidifies its stance as a global leader in integrated air freight services. Notably, Thomas Mack, in his five-year tenure as the Head of Global Air Freight, played an instrumental role in transforming the organization into a leading provider of seamless and integrated air freight solutions. His collaborative efforts with DHL Express paved the way for synergies that propelled the group’s success.

As part of the broader vision, Thomas Mack is expected to bid farewell to DHL Global Forwarding in October 2024 as he enters a well-deserved retirement. His contributions will leave a lasting legacy, while Max Sauberschwarz’s ascendancy promises to steer DHL’s Air Freight division to new heights of achievement and innovation.
