Dublin Port Company Grants CCIS Inland Port Licence

Dublin Port Company (DPC) has greenlit a new chapter in maritime logistics with the granting of an operating license to CMA CGM Inland Services (CCIS). The subsidiary of the global maritime giant, CMA CGM Group, is set to commence operations at Dublin Inland Port, reinforcing Ireland’s pivotal position in the world’s trade network.

This move comes on the heels of an €8 million investment by DPC in the second phase of the North Dublin logistics hub. The development marks a total self-financed investment of €56 million by DPC in Dublin Inland Port.

CCIS, recognized as one of the world’s largest providers of inland services, manages container depots in over 30 countries globally. Now, as the second company to join DPC’s logistics hub, CCIS is poised to extend its reach into the Irish market. The collaboration with service partner Doyle Shipping Group (DSG) accompanies the creation of new jobs, emphasizing the economic impact of this venture.

With the newly-acquired license, CCIS will diversify its portfolio, leveraging its Dublin facility to focus on container storage and repair. The primary emphasis will be on serving the export needs of vital sectors, including foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, and refrigerated products.

The ongoing development of Dublin Inland Port aligns with DPC’s Masterplan commitment to optimize port lands by relocating non-core port-related activities. This strategic move has not only freed up valuable space within the Dublin Port estate but has also paved the way for more efficient use of the Dublin Port Tunnel and internal network.

Cormac Kennedy, Head of Commercial at Dublin Port, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s growth potential. He highlighted the €8 million invested in the past year and emphasized the strategic decision to relocate non-core port users, resulting in the freeing up of 75% of the masterplan 40-hectare target.

A spokesperson for the CMA CGM Group conveyed their delight at being granted the operating license, calling it a great opportunity for CCIS to expand its footprint into Ireland. The focus on top-tier logistics solutions and specialization in container storage and repair align seamlessly with CCIS’s commitment.

The granting of the operating license to CCIS marks a significant milestone in Dublin Inland Port’s growth story. With a strategic approach to relocation, a strong collaboration between industry leaders, and a focus on specialized services, Dublin Inland Port is set to play an increasingly pivotal role in Ireland’s maritime and logistics landscape.
