Gebrüder Weiss, the venerable 500-year-old global transport and logistics entity, is making waves in the industry with its latest move. The company has unveiled an ambitious expansion plan for its project transportation services based out of the Houston, Texas office. To spearhead these efforts, Gebrüder Weiss proudly welcomes Torge Runge as the newly appointed Senior Operations Manager of Industrial Projects & Energy Transport Solutions – North America. With a solid 25-year track record in the industry, Runge brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Runge’s responsibilities encompass overseeing all facets of project cargo operations, aligning with Gebrüder Weiss’s commitment to providing top-notch logistics solutions and flawless project execution for its clients. His role places him under the guidance of Michael Ruediger, the Director of Industrial Projects and Energy Transport Solutions – North America. Both industry veterans are stationed at the Houston office, which serves as a hub for specialized projects and project transportation.

Mark McCullough, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss North America, expressed his enthusiasm about Torge Runge’s addition to the team, stating, “We are thrilled to have Torge join the project team. The caliber of his leadership abilities and operational expertise is second to none, and his vast experience will further enhance the tailor-made logistics solutions and project execution capabilities we provide to our clients.”

The Houston office, situated among Gebrüder Weiss’s 180 company-owned locations worldwide, stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to anticipating industry trends and meeting customer needs. Runge and Ruediger bring specialized knowledge in vessel, barge, and aircraft chartering, as well as navigating complex inland transportation requirements and executing site work.

This move aligns with Gebrüder Weiss’s strategy of optimizing regional trade hubs and responding to the growing demand for nearshoring. The company has a track record of staying ahead of industry trends, as seen with the recent opening of its new location in Laredo, Texas, in June 2023. Laredo, being the largest inland port in North America, positions Gebrüder Weiss strategically to accommodate the evolving dynamics of the logistics landscape.

As Gebrüder Weiss continues to evolve its specialized projects and project cargo handling capabilities, Torge Runge’s appointment is a significant step in fortifying the company’s position as a leader in the industry. With an extensive network and a commitment to excellence, Gebrüder Weiss is well-poised to continue providing innovative solutions in the dynamic world of logistics.
