Giant Quench Still in Transit

The largest unit of the equipment for the Amur Gas Chemical Complex – the “Quench Tower” intended for a pyrolysis unit is currently underway to Siberia, Russia.

In the South Korean port of Masan, the column, weighing approx. 1,500 tonnes and measuring 80.6 metres long was loaded onto the “Tomsk” barge specifically built at the Damen shipyard. The barge was already on board the Sun Rise ship, which brought it from China.

On board of the Sun Rise, the barge traveled 1,200 nautical miles to the Russian port of De-Kastri, where it was unloaded for further transportation.

On behalf of the Linde Group, Combi Lift is transporting the quench tower and a C3 Splitter (1.021 tonnes) with the new mega barge from De-Kastri to Svobodny.

On June 5, the barge with a column accompanied by the sea tug began its journey along the sea section to the mouth of the Amur River. Further, the barge was received by the river tug to transport the barge along the Amur River and Zeya River.

Currently, the convoy is waiting around Blagoveshchensk area for the flood level to lower to continue its journey. On June 21, 2021, the quench tower was unable to fit under a bridge. This unusual incident occurred on the Zeya River in Blagoveshchensk. Governor Vasily Orlov said that the bridge is not damaged and that the barge will wait until the water level is lower.

In total, after overcoming 2367 km from the port of De-Kastri, the barge with an oversized cargo will arrive at the pier at 212 km of Zeya River for further overland transportation to the construction site.

According to Combi Lift, the Amur GCC Project is 19.5% completed.

On the 9th June, the launch of the Amur Gas Processing Plant (GPP) of Gazprom took place.

NIPIGAZ is a PMC contractor for the logistics of large-scale equipment for the GPP construction project, providing a full range of services to support the facility: engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, construction and installation works, commissioning.
