Huisman Secures Contract for 500mt Offshore Mast Crane, Enhancing Subsea7’s Deep-Water Capabilities

Huisman, a global leader in heavy lifting and offshore construction equipment, proudly announces the acquisition of a significant contract from Subsea7. This deal involves the delivery of a cutting-edge 500mt Offshore Mast Crane that will be a pivotal asset for Subsea7’s pipelay vessels engaged in deep-water installations.

The state-of-the-art crane, developed with innovation and client satisfaction in mind, is set to be a game-changer for Subsea7’s operations. Equipped with a sophisticated passive and active heave compensation system on the main hoist, the crane ensures stability during product landings onto the seabed, even in challenging heave motions. Huisman has bolstered its heave compensation system with new control modes, expanding the operational window and enhancing overall performance.

The production of this groundbreaking crane will take place at Huisman’s renowned facility in Schiedam, the Netherlands. The CEO of Huisman, David Roodenburg, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to announce this contract with our valued client, Subsea7. Our pursuit of continuous improvement has led to the upgrade of our Offshore Mast Crane to an impressive 500mt, showcasing our dedication to innovation and client satisfaction.”

One of the remarkable features of the 500mt Offshore Mast Crane is its small rectangular footprint, facilitating seamless integration with the vessel’s steel structure. The crane’s direct installation on the stern not only achieves a large effective outreach but also contributes to cost savings in integration. Huisman’s Offshore Mast Cranes, known for their lightweight design constructed from high tensile steel, eliminate the need for additional ballast weight. The mast’s exceptional height further provides a superior load curve, adding to the crane’s efficiency.

With a track record spanning over 30 years, Huisman Mast Cranes have become a standard in the design and construction of heavy lift cranes. The company takes pride in deploying nearly 50 Offshore Mast Cranes successfully, supporting offshore construction and ultra-deepwater operations at depths of up to 5,000 meters.

This contract signifies a significant step forward for both Huisman and Subsea7, marking a collaborative effort to advance technological capabilities in the maritime and offshore industry.
