Joachim Frantsen Appointed New Head of North Atlantic Desk at Western Bulk

Starting September 1, Joachim Frantsen will step into his new role as the Head of the North Atlantic desk at Western Bulk. He takes over from Torbjørn Gjervik, who has recently been promoted to Group CEO.

“I’m pleased that we have so much internal talent willing to take on exciting opportunities as we are growing our company. With more than 20 years’ experience from chartering and dry bulk, Joachim is equipped with all the tools needed for the team’s continued success in serving our customers,” Gjervik remarked.

Joachim Frantsen is no stranger to the industry. Before this appointment, he led the Black Sea and Mediterranean/Steel team at Western Bulk. He joined the company as a chartering manager in January 2017, bringing with him over a decade of experience from the Thorvald Klaveness Group, where he specialized in chartering.

The North Atlantic desk at Western Bulk is a significant hub within the company, comprising nine chartering managers based in Oslo and Seattle. This dedicated team is responsible for managing over 40 vessels across the North Atlantic region. With such a critical volume of operations, strong leadership is essential, and Frantsen’s extensive background in the field positions him as a natural fit for the role.

In an industry where experience and insight are invaluable, Frantsen’s transition is seen as a strategic move for Western Bulk. His proven track record in managing complex operations and his familiarity with the company’s culture and clients suggest he is well-prepared to drive the North Atlantic desk forward.

The logistics and maritime sectors are constantly evolving, demanding leaders who can navigate the complexities of global trade and shipping. Frantsen’s appointment reflects Western Bulk’s commitment to leveraging internal talent to maintain and enhance their service delivery. With his wealth of experience and a strong team behind him, Frantsen is poised to steer the North Atlantic desk towards continued success.
