Jumbo Offshore Secures Mooring Pre-Installation Contract for FPSO Errea Wittu

In a significant development for the maritime and offshore industry, Jumbo Offshore Installation Contractors B.V. (“Jumbo Offshore”) has clinched a vital contract from MODEC Guyana Inc. (“MODEC”) for the pre-installation of the mooring spread of the FPSO Errea Wittu, destined for the offshore waters of Guyana.

FPSO Errea Wittu: A Vessel of Abundance

The FPSO “Errea Wittu,” translating to “abundance,” is poised to become a major player in oil storage, with a capacity to house an impressive 2 million barrels. Set to produce around 250,000 barrels of oil daily, it boasts a gas treatment capacity of 540 million cubic feet per day and a water injection capacity of 350,000 barrels per day.

MODEC’s Strategic Move

The authorization for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) scope for the FPSO Errea Wittu was granted to the MODEC Group in May 2023. This green light followed the final investment decision on the Uaru project by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited and co-venturers. The FPSO mooring system, comprising nineteen (19) mooring legs, will be supplied by SOFEC, Inc., a MODEC Group company.

Jumbo Offshore’s Cutting-Edge Approach

Jumbo Offshore plans to employ its state-of-the-art Heavy Lift Construction Vessel, the Fairplayer, for the project. This vessel’s uniqueness lies in its ability to transport and install 19 suction anchors, 8,800m of chain sections, and 43,168m of polyester rope in minimal installation voyages, streamlining the logistical complexities.

Igor Rijnberg, Head of Sales and Business Development Subsea at Jumbo Offshore, expressed gratitude, stating, “The Jumbo Offshore team is very grateful to MODEC for this opportunity. We will use the extensive deep-water mooring installation experience gained over the last years to deliver a reliable, smart, and efficient project execution.”

Brian Boutkan, Manager of Commerce at Jumbo Offshore, echoed the sentiment, saying, “On behalf of the entire team, we are very much looking forward to undertaking this project. MODEC can count on Jumbo Offshore’s total commitment to providing a safe and reliable execution.”

This collaborative effort showcases the industry’s commitment, with Jumbo Offshore and MODEC joining forces to ensure the success of the FPSO Errea Wittu project. As the maritime and offshore sectors evolve, such partnerships pave the way for groundbreaking achievements.
