Leschaco Iberia Earns IATA Cargo Agent Certification

Leschaco Iberia, the Spanish arm of the globally renowned logistics service provider Leschaco, has achieved a significant milestone by securing accreditation as an International Air Transport Association (IATA) cargo agent. Following a rigorous audit process, this accreditation underscores Leschaco Iberia’s commitment to upholding the highest standards in air freight services across the 14 countries where the company maintains its own offices.

Oliver Kaut, Head of Global Product Management Airfreight, emphasized the company’s dedication to service quality and safety standards, stating, “We are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of service quality and safety standards.” Mathias Reiser, Managing Director of Leschaco Iberia, highlighted the business expansion potential, noting, “With the IATA approval, we now have a fully certified process for our customers’ airfreight shipments.”

IATA, a global aviation association comprising representatives from 400 strategic partners and 300 airlines, plays a pivotal role in setting international standards for air transport. With Leschaco Iberia’s certification as an IATA cargo agent, the company gains access to a vast network covering 82% of the world’s air passenger and cargo traffic.

This accreditation enables Leschaco Iberia to serve as an IATA cargo agent in major cities worldwide. The company can now efficiently dispatch air cargo shipments directly, ensuring prompt and timely delivery while coordinating loading and unloading activities. Moreover, Leschaco Iberia can handle freight collection and manage customs formalities.

One of the significant advantages of becoming an IATA cargo agent is access to the e-freight project, aimed at digitizing the industry. This includes the creation of electronic air waybills (e-AWB), streamlining documentation processes. IATA cargo agents, in addition to issuing documents like air waybills (AWB) on behalf of airlines, contribute to the industry’s ongoing digitization efforts.

IATA’s role extends beyond setting standards; the association plays a vital part in creating uniform tariffs and conditions, as well as standardizing processes in international air transport. Companies recognized by IATA must demonstrate financial capacity and professional competence, along with regular training for employees in handling dangerous goods.
