NorthLink Aviation Receives FAA Approval for Anchorage Air Cargo Terminal Project

NorthLink Aviation has achieved a significant milestone in its venture to establish an advanced e-commerce and express air cargo terminal at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted approval for this ambitious project, marking a pivotal step forward in enhancing air cargo logistics.

The FAA’s decision follows the reception of a Finding of No Significant Impact and Record of Decision (FONSI/ROD) for the Environmental Assessment under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). This green signal allows NorthLink Aviation to collaborate with ANC and state agencies in commencing construction on a 120-acre tract of land, secured through a 55-year lease agreement.

The core objective of NorthLink’s undertaking is to develop a cutting-edge infrastructure at ANC’s South Park campus. This infrastructure will cater to various crucial aspects of air cargo operations, including aircraft parking, fuelling, de-icing, as well as warehousing and office facilities. These enhancements are set to serve a multitude of air cargo carriers.

NorthLink Aviation is poised for rapid progress. In addition to gaining FAA clearance, the company has outlined plans to initiate the construction phase of the air cargo terminal project in the near future. The company proudly boasts terminal usage agreements with several prominent international air cargo carriers, ensuring reserved hardstand capacity at ANC. These multi-year contracts establish NorthLink as a key player in the industry.

A significant boost in ANC’s air cargo traffic handling capabilities is anticipated with the upcoming completion of operational hardstands. The expected timeline places this enhancement in the latter half of 2024, signaling NorthLink’s commitment to driving progress and efficiency in the air cargo domain.

Furthermore, NorthLink Aviation is actively collaborating with federal agencies to establish Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport as the primary point of entry for air cargo destined for the United States. This strategic move holds the potential to streamline and optimize the air cargo logistics landscape.

In a transformative development, Tiger Infrastructure Partners took a controlling stake in NorthLink in November 2021. Formerly known as IC Alaska Airport LLC, NorthLink is poised to make remarkable strides in reshaping air cargo operations and logistics on both national and international scales.
