United O7 Asia shared this image of their UHL Faith‘s maiden voyage from Shanghai to Hamburg with a full shipment of containers on board.
There have been multiple reports recently of issues with the container liner market such as lack of space, lack of empty containers, delays, late cancelations, a rise in tariffs, and a surge in container freight rates mainly due to the high demand in consumer goods.
Many have speculated that this situation would provide opportunities for the breakbulk, RoRo, and multipurpose shipping sector. Perhaps what we see here with UHL Faith’s deck full of containers is just the beginning of more to come.
The question is, do MPV and Heavylift shipowners want to see their decks full of containers, and is it an efficient use of these vessels?
