United Heavy Lift Charts New Waters with MV UHL FRESH Maiden Voyage

In a significant stride toward a sustainable maritime future, United Heavy Lift proudly announces the commencement of MV UHL FRESH on its maiden voyage from Tianjin, China to Europe. This state-of-the-art vessel, officially handed over on January 24th, 2024, marks the 18th addition to the Hamburg-based company’s innovative F900 Eco-Lifter fleet.

Less than a year since the keel laying at the Hudong Shipyard in Shanghai, MV UHL FRESH, with IMO No. 9972505, embarked on its journey under the command of German Captain Sven Ellerbrock and First Officer Pit Awe. The vessel is set to dock at the port of discharge in Vaasa, Finland by the end of March, managed by Zeaborn Ship Management.

A Beacon of Sustainability

United Heavy Lift’s commitment to eco-friendly maritime practices shines through MV UHL FRESH. The vessel features an IMO Tier III-certified main engine, ensuring a remarkable reduction of up to 95 percent of NOX emissions. Diesel particles are efficiently burned off in the catalyses, aligning with international standards.

The Eco-Lifter stands out with its low fuel consumption—7 metric tons/9 knots, 10 metric tons/12 knots, and 21 metric tons/15 knots. Notably, MV UHL FRESH can operate on biodiesel, making its main engine carbon-neutral. Andreas Rolner, UHL Managing Director, affirms, “United Heavy Lift is continuing on the path towards an ever-growing environmental awareness in the entire shipping business.”

Paving the Way for ESG-Compliant Solutions

With an average fleet age of approximately three years, United Heavy Lift positions itself advantageously within emissions trading systems (ETS). Rolner emphasizes the cost-effectiveness for customers, stating that the CO2 levy for MV UHL FRESH is only half that of a 20-year-old MPP Heavy Lifter.

Operating globally, United Heavy Lift strategically aligns its fleet expansion with the burgeoning market for eco-friendly breakbulk and heavy lift sea transportation. The company anticipates the christening of MV UHL FABLE, its 19th vessel, from Hudong Shipyard later in 2024.

As the maritime industry sets sail towards sustainability, MV UHL FRESH symbolizes United Heavy Lift’s dedication to greener seas and eco-conscious solutions.
