SOMALEV Cranes & Logistics has successfully wrapped up its latest ambitious project, a desalination station powered by wind energy, located in the picturesque region of Dakhla, southern Morocco. This remarkable installation, boasting a capacity of 60 MW, features twelve 5 MW wind turbine generators (WTGs) using Envision technology. The primary crane used for this project was the formidable LR1750 SX.
The journey to this accomplishment wasn’t a walk in the park. Over the past 24 months, SOMALEV tackled numerous challenges, navigating diverse terrains and extreme conditions. From the rugged hills of the Taza Wind Farm to the desert expanse of Aftissat II, and back to the towering heights of Nassim Koudia El Baida in the north, the team demonstrated unparalleled dedication and resilience. The crowning achievement in Dakhla is a testament to their commitment, marking nearly 300 MW of projects completed safely and on schedule.
This project not only underscores SOMALEV’s prowess but also marks a historic moment as the first 100% Moroccan company to achieve such a feat in the renewable energy sector. The success story is a blend of relentless dedication, hard work, and substantial investments in both people and cutting-edge technology. The team’s arsenal included top-tier equipment like the LR1750SX, the CC2800, and the LTM11200, ensuring that every phase of the project was executed with precision.
