Spliethoff Group Acquires Majority Interest in ForestWave

In a significant development for the maritime industry, the Spliethoff Group has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in ForestWave, set to take effect on September 30, 2024. This move further solidifies Spliethoff’s position in the global logistics and shipping sector, as it integrates ForestWave as its seventh business unit. The acquisition also boosts the Group’s fleet to over 140 vessels, increasing its capacity to manage sea transportation of bulk cargoes, yachts, and other freight.

The two companies, Spliethoff and ForestWave, have a long history of collaboration, particularly in the shipping of bulk cargoes and yachts. This partnership, which includes Spliethoff’s subsidiary, Sevenstar Yacht Transport, has proven to be highly successful. With the new deal, both parties aim to deepen their cooperation, creating synergies that will benefit clients across the globe.

Spliethoff Group’s management, represented by Messrs. Bras and Van den Heuvel, emphasized that the acquisition was a natural progression in their relationship with ForestWave. They highlighted the benefits of combining expertise, noting that the move will enhance their ability to offer a wider range of logistics solutions to their clients. “Formalizing this cooperation is a logical step after many years of constructive and pleasant collaboration,” they stated, further pointing to the synergies and expanded capabilities this alliance will bring.

ForestWave’s Managing Director, Mr. Fred Diepeveen, echoed these sentiments, noting that joining forces with the Spliethoff Group is an opportunity for his company to realize its full potential. “We maintain our identity and independent operations while benefiting from new opportunities. Together, we’ll be able to serve our clients and colleagues even better,” he said.

With this acquisition, Spliethoff continues to expand its influence in the project cargo and logistics industry.
