SUARDIAZ Group Implements Electric Truck in Barcelona Port, Signaling Sustainability Drive

Suardiaz Group is taking significant steps towards sustainability with the introduction of an electric truck in the bustling port of Barcelona. Through its division, Suardiaz TET, the company has deployed the Volvo FH 540KW 4×2 truck, marking a pioneering move in the region’s transportation sector.

The electric truck is revolutionizing cargo transportation practices, managing a substantial volume of 800 containers, equivalent to 1,600 TEUS (twenty-foot equivalent units), on an annual basis. Its deployment underscores Suardiaz’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating environmental impact within the logistics industry.

Highlighting the environmental benefits of this initiative, the electric truck’s daily travels of over 300 kilometers result in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. With a remarkable saving of 0.83 kilograms of CO2 per kilometer, the annual total reaches an impressive 61,353 kilograms of CO2 not emitted into the atmosphere. This substantial reduction in carbon footprint aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable development goals.

The decision to embrace electric transportation reflects Suardiaz Group’s proactive approach towards eco-conscious practices and innovation in the maritime and logistics sectors. By integrating cutting-edge technology and sustainable solutions into its operations, the company sets a precedent for responsible business practices within the industry.

Commenting on the initiative, a spokesperson for Suardiaz Group emphasized, “We are proud to pioneer the use of electric trucks in the port of Barcelona. Our investment in sustainable transportation not only reduces emissions but also demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship and driving positive change.”

The introduction of the Volvo FH 540KW 4×2 electric truck signifies a paradigm shift in cargo handling and logistics management, setting a new standard for eco-friendly transportation solutions in maritime hubs worldwide. Suardiaz Group’s proactive stance towards sustainability serves as a testament to the company’s dedication to fostering a greener, more sustainable future for the logistics industry.
