Thialf and Hereema completed the offshore operations to remove the Kinsale platforms

Earlier in Sept, 2022, Thialf and Hereema completed the offshore operations to remove the Kinsale platforms on behalf of  PSE Kinsale Energy Ltd, and now the last of the decommissioned structures have been safely moored at the Hoondert Services & Decommissioning (HSD) location in Vlissingen.

The project included removing the Kinsale Alpha and Bravo platforms, which were the only two platforms in Irish waters. 

In total, have been removed 24,000 metric tons of steel, and 97% of this material will be reused or recycled.

The infrastructure removed during the decommissioning project includes:

  • 2 topsides
  • 4 accommodation modules
  • 14 conductors
  • 2 jacket top sections 
  • 2 bottom sections
