Wallenius Wilhelmsen Secures $1 Billion Multi-Year Contract with Global Car Manufacturer

Wallenius Wilhelmsen has announced the signing of another substantial multi-year contract. The agreement, valued at over USD 1 billion, spans three years and includes shipping and logistics services, alongside the utilization of biofuel. With an option for a mutual two-year extension, the contract commenced between January and April 2024, with rates aligned with current market levels.

“We see manufacturers shifting priorities and increasingly seeking solutions that offer predictability in their supply chains. In this case, it means longer-term contracts covering both logistics and shipping services. This aligns with Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s objective of being a total solution provider in finished vehicle logistics. This multi-year contract enables better long-term planning and extended predictability for both the customer and us,” stated Lasse Kristoffersen, President, and CEO at Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

The inclusion of biofuel in this contract underscores a growing trend toward environmental sustainability in global supply chains. “Environmentally conscious customers acknowledge the urgency of decarbonizing global supply chains. The decision to utilize biofuel is strategic for this customer,” remarked Pia Synnerman, Chief Customer Officer at Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s continuous efforts to integrate sustainability into its operations and its ability to provide comprehensive solutions tailored to the evolving needs of its clients have been instrumental in securing such significant contracts. As the industry navigates toward greener practices, partnerships like this underscore the importance of proactive measures in addressing environmental concerns while ensuring efficient and reliable logistics services.

The multi-year contract not only solidifies Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s position as a trusted partner but also highlights the growing demand for sustainable shipping and logistics solutions across various industries. With a commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship, the company is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of its customers while contributing to a more sustainable future for global trade.
