Yusen Logistics has launched a new cross-border multimodal transportation service

Yusen Logistics has launched a new cross-border multimodal transportation service utilizing the high-speed rail network between Kunming, China and Vientiane, Laos.

This new cross-border multimodal transportation service utilizes their global network to provide integrated transportation services from collection, customs clearance to final delivery. Their customers’ shipments will also be tracked via our tracking platform using the GPS technology. Yusen has already arranged a trial shipment from Laos to Europe via China in June.

China-Laos Railway is an international high-speed railway between Kunming, China and Vientiane, Laos, which opened in December 2021. Before the railway began its operation, road transport was the only land transportation between China and ASEAN countries. This often creates traffic congestion near the China-Laos border and the China-Vietnam border, thus resulting in longer lead times and higher freight costs. As a result, the China-Laos railway has become an important logistics corridor between China and ASEAN countries to realize fulfil mass transportation services with stable lead times.

The launch of this new service provides shippers not only an effective countermeasure for their business continuity plan during disruptions in maritime and road transportation, but also a greener solution that can contribute to reduce CO2 emissions through the use of rail transportation.
