ONE Launches World’s First Dual-Temperature Refrigerated Container with Controlled Atmosphere Function

Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd. (ONE) proudly announces the initiation of trial shipments for the world’s inaugural dual-temperature refrigerated container featuring Controlled Atmosphere (CA) functions. This revolutionary development stems from a collaborative effort with Pan Pacific International Holdings Inc. (PPIH) and NAX Japan, and it marks a significant leap in the transportation of perishable goods and fruits.

The innovative container, designed for transporting various commodities, boasts two distinct temperature zones along with CA functions. This pioneering technology not only extends the shelf life of fruits and vegetables but also presents a more efficient solution for transporting smaller quantities of cargo. By doing so, it addresses critical challenges such as inventory risks, ultimately reducing costs, CO2 emissions, and food loss.

Cutting-Edge Design for Enhanced Flexibility

A key feature of this dual-temperature refrigerated container is the inclusion of a foldable partition, facilitating accommodation of different temperature zones within the same container. The adjacent compartment to the reefer unit caters to both chilled and frozen temperatures, maintaining cargo within the range of -30°C to +30°C. The other compartment utilizes a thermal fan, ensuring cargo remains between -5°C and +30°C. Notably, the partition’s position can be adjusted based on customer requirements and can be conveniently stored in the ceiling when not in use, transforming it into a standard refrigerated container.

Addressing Freshness Challenges in Asian Markets

With a focus on enhancing container loading efficiency and minimizing transportation costs, the collaborative effort targets the specific challenges faced by Pan Pacific International Holdings Inc. (PPIH). The company, operating 43 stores across six Asian countries, including the popular “DON DON DONKI” specialty stores, emphasizes the demand for maintaining the freshness of Japanese fruits and vegetables during ocean transportation. The dual-temperature refrigerated CA container aims to streamline the transport of smaller quantities of diverse perishable goods, ensuring the quality and freshness of the cargo throughout the journey.

Partnership for Global Agricultural Product Exports

The collaboration between ONE, PPIH, and NAX Japan extends beyond the trial shipment. As logistics partners in the export of perishable goods, they collectively contribute to more stable exports of Japanese agricultural products and promote their global reach. The trial shipments, supported by a subsidy project from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Japan, signify a commitment to sustainable and efficient international trade practices.
