Breakbulk Europe 2025: Embracing Change in the Project Cargo Industry

Breakbulk Europe, the premier trade event for the project cargo and breakbulk sector, is gearing up to celebrate its 20th anniversary in grand style. Set to unfold from May 13-15, 2025, at the Rotterdam Ahoy, this milestone edition promises a host of exciting innovations, extended networking opportunities, and invaluable industry insights.

Following insightful feedback from both participants and exhibitors, Breakbulk Europe 2025 is breaking new ground by expanding its duration to a full three-day affair, including a dedicated day on Tuesday. This move reflects the industry’s clamor for increased time to connect, network, and conduct business in a hassle-free environment.

Tim Killen, Head of Growth – Project Sector at Fracht Group, expressed enthusiasm for the revamped format, stating, “The new evolved conference format for 2025 will allow more opportunities for valuable networking, education, and engagement, providing greater value to the attending breakbulk community.”

Elizabeth Rankin, event director for Breakbulk Europe, echoed this sentiment, affirming, “Participants from last year expressed a desire for more time and less hassle, and that’s exactly what we’ve designed into the 2025 event.”

Anticipating a surge in exhibitor participation spanning carriers, forwarders, ports, equipment providers, and specialized transporters, Breakbulk Europe 2025 will unveil a new hall adjacent to Hall 2, expanding the venue’s capacity and enhancing accessibility.

One of the standout features of the 2025 edition is the introduction of “Superhighways” – wider aisles strategically positioned throughout the venue to facilitate seamless navigation for attendees. These pathways will streamline access to exhibitors, the Main Stage, and Breakbulk Futures, ensuring an efficient and enjoyable experience for all.

Rankin disclosed plans to enhance networking opportunities further, including an expanded Round Table program and the addition of a dedicated Women in Breakbulk lounge on the show floor. She teased, “Without a doubt, there will be some surprises as well – it’s not every year we celebrate a 20th anniversary.”

As Breakbulk Europe commemorates two decades of industry leadership and collaboration, the 2025 edition promises to be its most remarkable yet. Carsten Wendt, Head of Sales – High & Heavy and Breakbulk at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, affirmed, “Extending the conference duration will foster the event’s global reach and pave the way for an even more successful future.”

In essence, Breakbulk Europe 2025 is not just an event; it’s a testament to resilience, innovation, and the enduring significance of the project cargo and breakbulk industry.
