Davies Turner Expands Reach with New Logistics Hub in Atherstone

Davies Turner, a prominent player in the UK’s freight forwarding and logistics sector, has recently unveiled its latest addition to the logistics landscape: a fulfilment centre in Atherstone, nestled in the heart of the English Midlands. This marks the seventh bespoke 3PL (third-party logistics) facility for the company, signifying a significant stride in its quest for logistical excellence.

Situated strategically in Atherstone, the new hub amplifies Davies Turner’s capacity to cater to businesses outsourcing their supply chain management needs. Boasting a sprawling 140,000 square feet of warehousing space, the facility is fully Customs-bonded, equipped to handle a spectrum of logistics requirements efficiently.

Cutting-edge Infrastructure

The newly minted hub stands out with its impressive infrastructure. With a high bay fully racked area towering at 15 meters and an eaves height of 17 meters, the facility is primed for VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) forklift operations, ensuring optimal utilization of space. Its 20,000 pallet locations provide ample storage capacity, bolstering Davies Turner’s capability to meet the demands of diverse clientele.

Advanced Features for Seamless Operations

A notable feature of the logistics centre is the incorporation of four 35,000 square feet mezzanine floors, outfitted with conveyors, barcode readers, and cameras. This integration of automation streamlines processes, enhancing efficiency and precision in sortation, rework, and value-added services. The setup is tailored to accommodate the burgeoning e-commerce and online retail logistics segment, aligning with industry trends and evolving customer preferences.

Strategic Location and Accessibility

Strategically positioned in close proximity to the M1 and M6 motorways, the hub offers unparalleled connectivity, facilitating swift distribution across the region and beyond. With 17 loading docks and two level access doors, logistical operations are streamlined, ensuring seamless movement of goods. The facility also provides ample parking space for heavy goods vehicles, further optimizing logistical workflows.

Continued Investment in Growth

Alan Williams, Director at Davies Turner, underscores the company’s commitment to sustained growth and innovation. He emphasizes that the development of the Atherstone hub represents a pivotal milestone in their overarching investment strategy. Williams affirms that the company’s extensive property portfolio underscores its unwavering dedication to future-proofing its operations and meeting the evolving needs of clients.

Looking Ahead

The inauguration of the Atherstone logistics hub signals Davies Turner’s proactive approach towards enhancing its service offerings and solidifying its position in the logistics domain. As the company continues to expand its footprint and invest in cutting-edge infrastructure, it reaffirms its commitment to delivering unparalleled logistics solutions to businesses across the UK and beyond.
