During the AntwerpXL and earlier also at the Breakbulk Americas it became clear that training new staff and advancing existing staff is of vital importance for the Breakbulk industry.
There are training programs and specialized companies that offer training programs that address parts of the breakbulk industry, but there are very few organizations that offer this to the wider public.
AntwerpXL has seen this and decided to facilitate 2 programs this year which were well attended by shippers (cargo owners). The reception of these trainings have been very good and many have indicated that there not enough of them out there that have the right focus and material.
Despite of the overwhelming success at Breakbulk America in the past few years, there has not been any training planned for the upcoming Breakbulk Europe 2019 in Bremen. This is a real shame and according to major EPC and Oil & Gas companies BBN has spoken to, this is not good for the industry. Education is to prep our new staff and is there to advance our existing teams to better.
There are programs out there as introduction courses and there are Master Classes that bring more depth to the know how. The industry needs to be up to date with the latest developments and with the latest technologies but without education there will not be any change for a long time, until its too late.
