Liebherr, a prominent player in the machinery industry, has selected Broekman Logistics as its logistics partner for the European market. The collaboration, initiated in mid-2023, arose from Liebherr’s need for a logistics ally due to space limitations at its Oberopfingen location in Germany. After a rigorous tender process, Broekman Logistics emerged as the preferred choice.
Broekman Logistics CEO, Rik Pek, expressed satisfaction with Liebherr’s decision, stating, “Liebherr recognizes us as the expert in transport, storage, and assembly of machines and spare parts.” This aligns with Broekman Logistics’ refined strategic focus on logistics services in machinery, industrial, and chemicals market segments.
Handling Liebherr’s Machine Parts and Components
Broekman Logistics is tasked with managing Liebherr’s machine parts and components, including hydraulic excavators, crawler cranes, and telescopic handlers. Approximately 45,000 distinct parts will be transported and stored for these machines, with an estimated processing of 130,000 outbound orders annually.
Strategic Choice for Liebherr’s Growth
Liebherr’s decision to partner with Broekman Logistics was driven by the need for a logistics specialist to support growth objectives. With Broekman Logistics’ proven expertise in machine and spare parts, coupled with its experience in outsourcing projects, the selection was a natural fit.
Bastian Gauer, Head of Operations Management at Liebherr, expressed satisfaction with the initial months of collaboration, emphasizing the alignment of Broekman Logistics with Liebherr’s strategic goals.
Looking Ahead to Future Collaborations
The collaboration marks the beginning of a strategic partnership, with both companies exploring potential expansion into other divisions and partnerships, including venturing into the Indian market. Broekman Logistics’ recent strategy refinement aligns with Liebherr’s anticipated annual growth, promising an increase in responsibilities for the logistics partner.
In a forward-looking approach, this partnership signifies a synergy that goes beyond logistics, reflecting the shared vision of growth between Broekman Logistics and Liebherr.
