Broekman Logistics Sells Distriport Terminal to CLdN, Expands Project Services

Broekman Logistics, a prominent player in maritime, breakbulk, project freight, cargo, and logistics, has finalized the sale of its Distriport terminal to CLdN, a Belgian-Luxembourgish shipping and logistics group owned by the Cigrang family. This strategic move underscores Broekman Logistics’ commitment to refining its focus on Machinery, Industrial, and Chemicals sectors.

CLdN’s Strategic Expansion

The Distriport terminal, located in the Brittanniëhaven, spans an extensive 22-hectare area and boasts essential infrastructure, including 630 meters of quay, container transhipment, storage facilities, covered warehouses spanning 50,000 square meters, and transhipment capabilities for general cargo, high and heavy loads. The terminal also features a track header with an impressive 1.4 kilometers of rail.

CLdN’s acquisition of Distriport aligns seamlessly with its growth strategy, providing a significant boost to its service offerings. This strategic move enables CLdN to diversify its operations and enhance its presence in the shipping and logistics landscape.

Broekman Logistics’ Focus Shift

Rik Pek, CEO of Broekman Logistics, expressed the rationale behind the sale, stating, “While Distriport has a clear strategic fit with CLdN’s activities, it is less aligned with Broekman Logistics’ strategic focus as an industrial specialist in Machinery, Industrial, and Chemicals.” The decision to divest the terminal reflects Broekman Logistics’ commitment to streamlining its business operations and focusing on its core areas of expertise.

Despite the sale, Broekman Logistics remains optimistic about the future of its employees, assuring that the 80 coworkers associated with the Distriport terminal will transition seamlessly into CLdN, securing a promising future within the expanding organization.

Simultaneous Investments in Project Services

In conjunction with the divestment of Distriport, Broekman Logistics announced strategic investments in its Project Services terminal located at Rotterdam-Heijplaat. This terminal is undergoing a transformation into a quayside location dedicated to assembly and technical services for industrial and offshore equipment, along with heavy machinery.

This expansion underscores Broekman Logistics’ commitment to providing comprehensive services to its clients in the Machinery, Industrial, and Chemicals sectors. The investments in the Project Services terminal signify a forward-looking approach, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of industry developments.

In conclusion, Broekman Logistics’ sale of the Distriport terminal to CLdN, coupled with strategic investments in its Project Services terminal, exemplifies a dynamic and adaptive approach to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of maritime, breakbulk, project freight, cargo, and logistics.
