The inauguration ceremony, attended by key figures from institutions and the Bilbao port community, marked a significant leap towards sustainability and technological advancement in maritime operations.

Bilbao, Spain – CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal has set a new standard in port logistics with the introduction of six eco-efficient hybrid RTG cranes, valued at an impressive 12.6 million euros. This strategic move aligns with the company’s commitment to modernization, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of representatives from various institutions and logistics companies connected to the port of Bilbao. Notably, CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal aims to renew 30% of its yard machinery, and these hybrid RTG cranes play a pivotal role in achieving this goal.

Reduced Fossil Fuel Consumption

The star feature of these hybrid cranes is their ability to reduce fossil fuel consumption by an impressive 40%. This not only contributes to environmental protection but also highlights the company’s dedication to embracing technologies and sustainability in its maritime operations.

These eco-efficient RTG cranes boast a range of technical characteristics, including a structural weight of 135 tons, a lifting height of up to 18.1m, and a load capacity of 41 tons. Equipped with advanced lithium-ion battery technology, a power management system, and an eco-efficient diesel engine, these cranes represent a harmonious blend of power.

Investment in Progress

This acquisition is part of CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal’s substantial investment plan, amounting to over 34.5 million euros in the last eight years. Such significant financial commitments emphasize the shareholders’ dedication to positioning the port of Bilbao as a strategic hub in the Atlantic Arc.
