Fugro, a global leader in geotechnical and marine services, has announced the extension of its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PTSC Geos & Subsea Services Co., Ltd (PTSC G&S). This strategic move aims to address the surging demand for geophysical, geotechnical, and metocean data services in Vietnam, particularly in support of the country’s burgeoning offshore wind industry.
Under the renewed 2-year agreement, Fugro will leverage its comprehensive marine site characterisation services, while capitalizing on the local survey capabilities of PTSC G&S. The collaboration is pivotal in propelling Vietnam towards its ambitious offshore wind energy targets outlined in the 8th Power Development Plan (PDP8) of 2023. These targets include an initial goal of approximately 6 GW of offshore wind energy by 2030 and a remarkable 70 GW to 91.5 GW by 2050.
This extension marks a significant milestone in the long-standing partnership between Fugro and PTSC G&S, which originated in 2011. Both entities express their unwavering commitment to advancing Vietnam’s offshore wind sector, aligning with the nation’s aspirations to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Jerry Paisley, Fugro’s Regional Strategic Sales and Marketing Director, emphasized the enormous potential Vietnam holds for offshore wind power. He stated, “After over a decade of working here with our local partner, PTSC G&S, we’re thrilled to be unlocking Geo-data insights to now help develop Vietnam’s offshore wind market.”
Truong Tuan Nghia, Director of PTSC G&S, highlighted the synergy created by combining Fugro’s global expertise with their own four decades of experience serving the Vietnamese and Southeast Asian markets. He expressed satisfaction in extending the agreement, enabling the continued delivery of comprehensive geophysical, geotechnical, and metocean surveys to clients within Vietnam’s dynamic energy industry.
As Vietnam strides towards its renewable energy targets, this extended partnership signifies a collaborative effort to provide essential data services crucial for the successful development of the offshore wind sector.
