Hansa Meyer Global Transport Takes on Major Project for SMS group GmbH

Hansa Meyer Global Transport (HMG), based in Bremen, has been entrusted with a pivotal task by SMS group GmbH of Hilchenbach. The mission: transporting cutting-edge equipment for a state-of-the-art aluminum flat rolling mill to the United States.

This expansive venture commences at the Free Carrier (FCA)/Free on Board (FOB) port of shipment, encompassing goods originating from diverse corners of the globe—Europe, Turkey, Korea, India, Vietnam, and Mexico. The intricate logistics involve the hot strip mill, two tandem cold mills, a single-stand cold rolling mill, and two high-bay storage systems.

The sheer scale of the project is evident in the inclusion of 26 heavy lift units, ranging from 50 to 187 tons in unit weight. These colossal units will be transported in multiple shipments from Europe and Korea, reaching their final destination at the Port of New Orleans. From there, the baton will be handed to Hansa Meyer RoliProjects for the final leg of delivery to the project site in Columbus.

The operational wheels were set in motion promptly to meet the stringent requirements set by SMS group GmbH. The entire global team at Hansa Meyer Global Transport is eagerly gearing up for the challenges and opportunities presented by this crucial undertaking.

The scope of this project underscores the capabilities of HMG as a key player in the maritime and logistics domain. The intricate coordination of shipments from various origins to the final assembly point showcases the company’s commitment to efficiency and reliability.

In a statement, the company emphasized, “Our operations started immediately to meet the requirements of SMS group GmbH. The global HMGT team looks forward to working on this important project.”

This collaboration between HMG and SMS group GmbH not only underscores the trust placed in the former’s capabilities but also highlights the complexity involved in global logistics for heavy industry equipment. It is a testament to the seamless integration of efforts across continents, embodying the essence of efficient project management.
