Huisman Secures Seventh Monopile Gripper Order from Cadeler, Strengthening Offshore Wind Industry Presence

Huisman, a key player in offshore installation tools, has inked a significant deal with Cadeler for the design and production of their seventh Monopile Gripper. This move solidifies Huisman’s dominant position in the offshore wind industry, particularly in the realm of installation tools.

The Monopile Gripper, boasting an impressive 13-meter diameter, is strategically crafted for the efficient and controlled installation of monopiles spanning 80 to 120 meters in length, with a weight capacity of up to 3,000mt. What sets this gripper apart is its unique feature of being entirely storable on deck, streamlining future maintenance processes and enhancing operational longevity.

A noteworthy aspect of the contract is the inclusion of an option for integrating a noise mitigation system. This system is designed to minimize the impact of operational noises on sea life, underscoring the joint commitment of Cadeler and Huisman to environmentally responsible practices.

The production of the Monopile Gripper is set to take place at Huisman’s state-of-the-art facility in China, showcasing the global nature of the offshore industry and the collaborative efforts of international companies.

Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic collaboration, stating, “This new contract with Huisman solidifies our strategic commitment and collaboration in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible as we prepare for the future of offshore wind farm construction. If we are to reach our global goals for renewable offshore wind energy, we will need cutting-edge technologies and scale, which our strengthened partnership embodies.”

David Roodenburg, CEO of Huisman, echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for Cadeler’s continued trust and partnership. Roodenburg highlighted the significance of long-term collaborations, emphasizing that they enable Huisman to stay at the forefront of delivering groundbreaking solutions that contribute to the advancement of sustainable energy projects globally.

This latest order from Cadeler marks the fourth static gripper order for Huisman, further cementing their position in the market. The gripper, a first for Cadeler, is slated to play a pivotal role in the Hornsea Three Foundation project. Huisman has previously delivered two Motion Compensated Monopile Grippers for DEME’s Orion and Boskalis’ Bokalift 2, with another in progress for Heerema’s Thialf.

In a rapidly evolving industry, partnerships like the one between Huisman and Cadeler exemplify the dedication to innovation and sustainability required to meet the growing global demand for renewable energy solutions.
