Kombiverkehr KG Launches New Rotterdam RSC – Köln-Eifeltor v.v. Service

Kombiverkehr KG, a prominent player in the freight and logistics industry, has recently announced the commencement of its latest service connecting Germany and the Netherlands. This new initiative involves the introduction of a dedicated train route between Rotterdam and Köln-Eifeltor, marking a significant expansion in the company’s service portfolio.

The newly launched service will see trains terminating at the Rail Service Center (RSC) located in Waalhaven, Rotterdam. Departing from Rotterdam, the trains are designed to swiftly reach Köln-Eifeltor within a commendable twelve-hour timeframe. The service operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, facilitating convenient scheduling options for forwarders and logistics companies in both directions.

Notably, customers availing of this service will have the opportunity to book optional transfers to nearby port terminals, enhancing the efficiency and flexibility of their logistics operations. Furthermore, intermodal transport utilizing P400 loading units is made feasible, presenting a versatile solution for diverse cargo requirements. It’s important to mention that while the service accommodates various cargo types, it excludes the transportation of class 7 dangerous goods.

Kombiverkehr KG’s collaboration with KombiRail Europe as its traction partner underscores the company’s commitment to ensuring seamless and reliable operations along the route. Andrea de Ambrogi, Head of Sales Benelux, highlights the strategic significance of Köln-Eifeltor as a pivotal hub terminal in Germany, offering extensive options for onward national and international transportation.

Ambrogi emphasizes, “This new train product shows how we are capitalizing on our network advantage.” Indeed, Köln-Eifeltor serves as a gateway to multiple destinations within Germany, including Munich, Ulm, Kornwestheim, and Basel. Moreover, in the realm of international transport, Kombiverkehr KG facilitates connections to and from countries such as Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Greece.

The efficiency of Kombiverkehr KG’s services is further exemplified by the rapid transfer of loading units between trains, enabling expedited delivery times. For instance, the journey from the Port of Rotterdam to Melzo in northern Italy can now be completed within a mere 48 hours, illustrating the company’s commitment to streamlining cross-border logistics operations.
