Siemens & NVIDIA: Bridging Real and Digital Worlds for Innovation

Reshape industrial design and manufacturing, Siemens has announced its collaboration with NVIDIA, a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and visual computing. This partnership aims to integrate immersive visualization and generative AI into the Siemens Xcelerator platform, heralding a new era for product lifecycle management.

Siemens unveiled this strategic alliance during the NVIDIA GTC event, revealing its adoption of NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud APIs. These APIs will be seamlessly integrated into Siemens Xcelerator platform applications, starting with Teamcenter X, a cloud-based product lifecycle management (PLM) software.

Utilizing the power of NVIDIA Omniverse, which is built upon Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD), developers can harness generative AI to create cutting-edge tools and services for industrial digital twins and automation. By incorporating Omniverse Cloud APIs into Teamcenter X, Siemens empowers engineering teams to enhance their digital twins, making them more immersive and photorealistic.

The integration of generative AI allows for accelerated workflows, enabling tasks such as applying materials, lighting environments, and other scenic assets in physically based renderings. This transformative approach not only enhances visualization but also streamlines processes, reducing errors and optimizing workflow efficiency.

The collaboration between NVIDIA and Siemens facilitates the contextualization of engineering data, providing stakeholders with a deeper understanding of real-world product appearance. From sales and marketing teams to decision-makers and customers, everyone benefits from enhanced insight and comprehension.

Traditionally, industrial projects have relied on physical prototypes and costly modifications, leading to increased expenses, errors, and slower time-to-market. However, with the integration of Omniverse Cloud APIs into the Xcelerator platform, Siemens empowers customers to revolutionize their approach to design and manufacturing.

The ability to visualize complex engineering projects directly within Teamcenter X allows companies like HD Hyundai, a pioneer in sustainable ship manufacturing, to unify and visualize their assets seamlessly. Siemens and NVIDIA showcased how HD Hyundai leveraged the software to visualize digital twins of liquified natural gas carriers, comprising over 7 million discrete parts, to validate their products before production.

These interoperable, photoreal, and physics-based digital twins accelerate engineering collaboration, minimize workflow waste, save time and costs, and reduce the risk of manufacturing defects. With immersive visualization and generative AI at their disposal, industries can embark on a new era of innovation and efficiency.
