Konecranes to Elevate Elixir Group’s Waste-to-Energy Game in Serbia

Konecranes, a heavyweight in the Waste-to-Energy sector, has clinched a deal with Elixir Group. The collaboration aims to address the surging energy needs of Elixir Group’s industrial complex in Prahovo, Serbia. The order, secured in December 2023, entails the supply of two cutting-edge grab lifter cranes, with deliveries and installation set to kick off in October 2024.

The focal point of the project involves the strategic placement of two robust 17-ton cranes within the complex’s waste bunker. These cranes boast multifunctionality, ranging from segregating diverse waste types to blending various materials. Their pivotal role extends to supplying the fuel preparation hall and feeding hoppers of the combustion line. Crafted for seamless 24/7 operation, these cranes are geared towards optimizing throughput and ensuring a consistent fuel supply for the incineration process, all while adhering to stringent environmental standards.

Damjan Karlovčan, Assistant Director for R&D Project Implementation at Elixir Group, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, highlighting Konecranes’ professionalism and proactive approach. “The good mutual understanding, prompt responses, and willingness to address every request further convinced us of Konecranes’ expertise,” Karlovčan stated.

Markus Scheibelberger, Director Product Sales, Industrial Service & Equipment, EMEA, Konecranes, shed light on the company’s comprehensive approach. “Our commitment goes beyond merely supplying a single piece of lifting equipment. We engage in comprehensive consultation with our customers right from the project’s initiation,” Scheibelberger emphasized. He underscored Konecranes’ dedication to optimizing layout, throughput, and material handling equipment to design solutions with peak performance.

Konecranes’ reputation as an industry leader stems from its unwavering customer focus, dedication to business growth, and a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement. The company’s investments in digitalization and technology echo its commitment to making material flows more efficient, promoting decarbonization, advancing circularity, and prioritizing safety.

As the wheels of progress turn in Prahovo, the collaboration between Konecranes and Elixir Group symbolizes a leap towards a more robust and sustainable waste-to-energy future for Serbia.
