Mammoet and Partners Move First of 14 Monopiles in Spain

Mammoet, in collaboration with Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables, recently accomplished a significant milestone by transporting the first of 14 monopiles in Fene, Spain. The monopile weighs an impressive 2,000 tonnes and measures 90 meters in length and 10 meters in diameter.

The successful transport was made possible with the use of Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs). The journey commenced from the fabrication area and continued to the paint booth. After receiving a fresh coat of paint, it was moved to the warehouse, where it currently awaits the loading-out process.

This achievement marks a groundbreaking event in Spain, as it is the first time such a colossal monopile has been transported within the country’s borders. The monopile will serve as a crucial foundation for offshore wind turbines within the Moray West offshore wind farm. The project represents a significant step forward in sustainable energy initiatives and offshore wind power development.
