MSC Expands Offerings with New Direct Service from Gothenburg to South America

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced its latest move to enhance its services, offering a new direct connection from Gothenburg, Sweden, to South America. This expansion comes as a response to the growing demand for reliable and efficient transportation solutions in the region.

Since March 2022, MSC has been operating a weekly service from APM Terminals Gothenburg to the United States. Building on the success of this route, MSC is now extending its reach by introducing two new destinations in South America, namely Ecuador and Peru.

Fredrik Magaji, Commercial Director at MSC Sweden AB, highlights the significance of this development, stating, “The new US line has been enthusiastically received and it’s clear that the Swedish market values the reliable and cost-effective transport that comes with a direct connection.”

This move is particularly timely in the wake of the pandemic, as businesses seek to secure their supply chains against potential disruptions associated with transshipment. By offering a direct link, MSC aims to provide Swedish companies with a dependable and seamless logistics solution.

Despite economic challenges, the demand for Swedish forest products remains robust, especially in South America. Recognizing the strategic importance of this market, MSC is keen on supporting its customers’ competitiveness by facilitating safe and sustainable transportation of goods.

Magaji emphasizes the efficiency of the new service, highlighting the importance of swift vessel turnover and flexibility in ensuring high delivery precision. APM Terminals Gothenburg, with its efficient port operations, serves as a crucial partner in this endeavor.

Moreover, MSC is committed to environmental sustainability, offering customers environmentally friendly rail solutions from APM Terminals Gothenburg to various parts of Sweden. This underscores the company’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly transportation alternatives.

In summary, MSC’s expansion of its service from Gothenburg to South America signifies a strategic move to meet the evolving needs of the market while fostering sustainable and efficient logistics solutions.
