Unifeeder Launches Direct Colombia-Panama Service for Swift Containerized Freight

Unifeeder Group, a prominent member of the DP World Group, has unveiled an innovative maritime solution, inaugurating a direct service linking four key Colombian ports – Turbo, Santa Marta, Cartagena, and Barranquilla – with the Port of Manzanillo in Panama. This strategic move is aimed at catering to the growing demand for efficient containerized freight, particularly benefiting export businesses dealing with time-sensitive goods such as fresh fruits.

Streamlined Connectivity and Short Transit Times

The newly introduced service promises not only streamlined connectivity but also ensures shorter transit times for cargo. Designed to enhance flexibility, the service allows for the addition of terminals at hub ports, providing a crucial edge for businesses seeking optimal logistics solutions.

DP World’s Ongoing Expansion

The implementation of this direct service aligns with DP World’s continuous efforts to expand its global reach. Since October 2022, DP World Marine Services has successfully introduced 19 new shipping routes, reinforcing its commitment to creating a robust network of maritime connections. Notable additions include the Vietnam Indonesia Service (VIS) in April 2023 and the India Middle East Service (IMS) in August 2023, contributing to the facilitation of trade across diverse industries.

Prioritizing Frequency and Reliability

DP World Group, encompassing Unifeeder, emphasizes the enhancement of service frequency and reliability to support regional development. To meet the rising demand for efficient shipping solutions, the company has strategically deployed new vessels, optimized rotations, and implemented shuttle services, ensuring a seamless flow of goods across its expanding network.

Jesper Kristensen’s Perspective

Jesper Kristensen, Group COO of Marine Services at DP World, expressed the significance of this global expansion, stating, “This significant expansion of our global network reinforces DP World Marine Services’ commitment to providing unparalleled shipping solutions. Our goal is to not only meet but exceed the expectations of our customers by offering reliable and efficient services across diverse trade routes.”

Unifeeder’s Recent Services Expansion

This recent initiative follows Unifeeder’s expansion of services in November 2023, which included enhanced connectivity linking Copenhagen with three major German hub ports. Additionally, an extra weekly containership call was introduced to the terminals at Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP), further solidifying Unifeeder’s commitment to comprehensive maritime solutions.

The launch of the direct Colombia-Panama service by Unifeeder, backed by the DP World Group, marks a strategic move in the realm of maritime logistics. The emphasis on flexibility, shorter transit times, and a commitment to expanding global networks reflects the industry’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of international trade.
