Rhenus delivers remotely piloted aircraft

Rhenus assisted their partner, Wings For Aid (WFA) with the transport of the remotely piloted aircraft system MiniFreighter to South Africa to complete the test program on African soil.

The innovative transport system was developed for the critical last-mile delivery for humanitarian goods to people isolated by natural disasters, or hard-to-reach areas. Imported via sea freight, the system consisting of the aircraft and self-landing cardboard boxes was delivered safely to the test site.

Barry Koperberg, WFA founder and general manager, was pleased after the successful test:” We have by now dropped the first box on African soil, where ‘the last mile’ is most troublesome. Together with Rhenus and local partners, we offer an integrated and scalable solution to humanitarian actors.”
