Sönke Jordt Takes Delivery of Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3: First in Germany

In a pioneering move for the German crane industry, Sönke Jordt Maschinen- und Schwertransport GmbH & CO. KG has become the first in the country to take delivery of the Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3 mobile crane featuring the innovative LICCON3 crane control. This acquisition marks another milestone for Sönke Jordt, following their previous purchase of the LTM 1110-5.2.

The distinguishing feature of this acquisition lies in the LTM 1100-5.3’s unparalleled dimensions. With a width of just 2.55 metres, it stands out as the world’s first 5-axle mobile crane designed with such narrow parameters. Tim Jordt, the Managing Director, expresses their enthusiasm, stating, “When we saw the crane at the trade fair, we knew that this new 100-tonner belongs in our crane fleet.”

Compactness proves to be a pivotal factor for Sönke Jordt, given the operational landscape in the northern German region. The crane’s slender build, lightweight design, and low axle loads align perfectly with the company’s requirements, facilitating seamless road transport operations. With the ability to carry up to 16.9 tonnes of ballast while maintaining a twelve-tonne axle load on public roads, the LTM 1100-5.3 offers unparalleled versatility. Moreover, it can be operated with a reduced axle load of just nine tonnes by adjusting the ballast, further enhancing its adaptability.

The advantages of this innovative crane became evident during its transfer from Ehingen to Ratekau. The streamlined design not only ensures compliance with road regulations but also translates into significant fuel and time savings. Reduced bridge loads necessitate fewer detours, streamlining the transportation process for Sönke Jordt.

Beyond its functionality, the crane’s aesthetic appeal is noteworthy. Sporting the company’s corporate colors, the LTM 1100-5.3 exudes a sense of pride for Managing Director Sönke Jordt. From the striking paintwork to the meticulously designed driver’s cab and crane operator’s cab, every detail reflects the company’s commitment to excellence.

This latest addition to Sönke Jordt’s fleet underscores their enduring partnership with Liebherr spanning twelve years. Alongside traditional crane hire services, the company offers a comprehensive range of solutions, including assembly, dismantling, towing, transport services, and a dedicated workshop service.
