Transport Company Silvasti Innovates Wind Power Projects with TC Concept

Transport Company Ville Silvasti Ltd. is set to revolutionize the execution of wind power projects with its innovativeCrane Installation (TCI) concept. The company has been selected as the TCI contractor for the upcoming Pahkakoski wind farm, located in the municipality of Ii in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland.

Pahkakoski Wind Farm: A Powerhouse in the Making

The Pahkakoski wind farm is slated to be a significant player in Finland’s renewable energy landscape. With 30 turbines boasting a production capacity of 600 gigawatt-hours annually, it stands among the largest wind farms in the country. The project’s construction is scheduled to kick off in 2024, with commercial operations expected to commence in the summer of 2025.

Silvasti’s TCI Concept: Redefining Wind Power Project Execution

Silvasti’s TCI concept is a groundbreaking approach to the construction and servicing of wind power projects. In collaboration with Ilmatar, a leading Nordic Independent Power Producer (IPP), and turbine manufacturer Vestas, Silvasti aims to introduce a more comprehensive role in renewable energy.

Drawing on its vast experience from over 700 wind power projects, Silvasti’s TCI concept offers all-inclusive, flexible, and scalable solutions for building new wind farms and servicing or decommissioning existing ones. This marks a significant stride towards cost-efficiency, optimization of execution, and ensuring infrastructure and safety standards through experienced co-operation partners.

Ville Silvasti’s Perspective

Ville Silvasti, the Founder and Chairman of the Board at Silvasti, expressed confidence in the timing of introducing this concept to the European market. He acknowledges the growing need for constructing high volumes of renewable energy and the increasing size and standardization of wind farms, providing an opportune moment for an alternative approach.

“I’d like to thank our team, partners, and Ilmatar for their exceptional efforts in reaching this milestone,” says Ville Silvasti.

Paula Kohvakka on the Industrialized Approach

Paula Kohvakka, Head of TCI Development at Silvasti, emphasizes the TCI concept’s departure from the traditional wind industry operating methods in Europe. Drawing parallels with the norm in the US market, she sees this approach not only bringing cost-efficiency but also paving the way for more industrialized wind power projects.

Azade Pierroff on the Dream Team

Azade Pierroff, Commercial Director at Silvasti, highlights the meticulous selection of an experienced dream team for the TCI project. By engaging in early planning and design phases, the team aims to optimize wind power project execution, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.

While Pahkakoski represents Silvasti’s first large-scale TCI project in constructing a new wind farm, the company has already executed several TCI service projects for wind turbines in the operational phase over the past two years
