TRS and BIFA Launch Innovative Skills Bootcamp for Freight Forwarding Industry

In a strategic collaboration, TRS partners with the British International Freight Association (BIFA) to introduce a pioneering Skills Bootcamp tailored for the freight forwarding industry. This initiative aims to address the critical skills gap within the sector and provide accessible training opportunities for individuals looking to enhance their expertise.

Led by TRS operations director, Bev Ellis, and managing director Kevin Birch, the launch of this Skills Bootcamp marks a significant milestone in the industry’s efforts to nurture talent and drive professional development.

Kevin Birch expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “We are very excited about the launch of our International Freight Forwarding Skills Bootcamp. Thanks to funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority, we can offer an essential industry skills course at a greatly reduced rate.”

Subsidized by the West Midlands Combined Authority, this comprehensive training program is designed to cater to both seasoned professionals in freight forwarding and newcomers aspiring to enter the field. The curriculum encompasses fundamental aspects of importing and exporting products, ensuring participants gain practical insights into the intricacies of the industry.

BIFA’s integral role in this collaboration underscores its commitment to fostering excellence within the freight transport domain. As the premier trade association for UK companies engaged in international freight transport, BIFA brings its wealth of experience and expertise to the table, enhancing the quality and relevance of the Skills Bootcamp.

Delivered online over five weeks, the course offers a blend of technical workshops and essential employment skills, ranging from Freight Forwarding Essentials to Customs Procedures and Customer Service Standards. Its flexible format accommodates diverse schedules, allowing participants to balance learning with work commitments seamlessly.

One of the key highlights of this initiative is its affordability. TRS ensures that businesses, regardless of size, can access high-quality training for their teams at competitive rates.

In the dynamic landscape of international freight forwarding, where adaptability and proficiency are paramount, the introduction of the Skills Bootcamp heralds a new era of workforce development. Carl Hobbis, BIFA member services director, acknowledges the significance of this initiative, emphasizing its alignment with BIFA’s broader objectives of promoting staff training and recruitment.

As the inaugural course prepares to commence in April, TRS invites industry stakeholders to seize this opportunity and invest in the professional growth of their teams. By equipping individuals with essential skills and knowledge, the Skills Bootcamp promises to elevate standards and drive innovation within the freight forwarding sector.
