UK Freight Association Welcomes Pawel Jarza as Frontier Policy Manager

The British International Freight Association (BIFA) proudly announces the appointment of Pawel Jarza as the new frontier policy manager. This comes at a crucial juncture in managing the UK frontier post-Brexit, with ongoing initiatives like the Border Trade Operating Model and the Single Trade Window.

As the frontier policy manager, Jarza will play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration with UK government departments, including HMRC and Border Force. His responsibilities extend to engaging with various external stakeholders. Collaborating closely with Igor Popovics, policy advisor Customs, and Robert Windsor, member services director policy and compliance, Jarza is poised to contribute significantly to the association’s objectives.

Expertise and Experience

A seasoned professional in the logistics industry, Jarza brings nearly two decades of experience, marked by a focus on Customs compliance in various managerial roles. Holding a master’s degree in International Trade Relations from the University of Wroclaw, he adds academic depth to his extensive practical knowledge.

The timing of Jarza’s appointment aligns with the ongoing implementation of the Border Trade Operating Model and the Single Trade Window. The latter is expected to streamline interactions between businesses and UK border processes, creating a more efficient gateway for meeting import, export, and transit obligations.

Jarza’s return to BIFA is particularly noteworthy, as he previously served as the policy and compliance adviser at the trade association, specializing in customs issues. BIFA director general, Steve Parker, expressed his confidence in Jarza’s abilities, stating, “We welcome back Pawel and are sure that his experience in the Customs environment will help our Policy and Compliance Department fulfill its role during a period of momentous change in frontier procedures.”

This appointment reflects BIFA’s commitment to strengthening its team with experienced professionals, ensuring effective representation and support for its members in the evolving landscape of the UK and international freight services industry.
