Verbrugge International Optimizes Operations with Konecranes’ Terminal Software

Dutch logistics leader Verbrugge International BV is set to revolutionize its operations across three key locations in The Netherlands. The company has chosen Konecranes’ advanced software solutions, including Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), to streamline containerized and non-containerized cargo operations. The strategic move, booked in November 2023, aims to enhance efficiency in handling diverse cargo types such as dry bulk, general cargo, RoRo, project cargo, and containers.

Facing the challenges of automating terminals with complex systems, Verbrugge International opted for Konecranes’ TOS to stay ahead in the ever-evolving logistics landscape. CFO Carlo Broeren highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering top-notch logistics services and the decision to explore the market for a best-in-class software solution.

Konecranes’ TOS, featuring [CommTrac and Autostore], promises true multi-cargo handling capabilities. This allows Verbrugge International to manage various cargo types seamlessly from any location, ushering in a new era of operational excellence, increased productivity, and overall efficiency.

The companies will integrate Konecranes’ software solutions with Verbrugge’s finance systems and real-time data sources like weighbridges. This pioneering integration is poised to enhance accuracy in measuring bulk cargo flows, marking a step forward in the digitalization of the port industry.

UNCTAD’s recent review underscores the enduring importance of non-containerized maritime trade, constituting around 80% of total trade. With this in mind, Verbrugge International’s choice aligns with the demand for sophisticated solutions in multipurpose terminals handling diverse cargo types.

David Trueman, Managing Director for Konecranes’ TBA Doncaster software unit in Port Solutions, expressed satisfaction with Verbrugge’s decision. “We’re pleased to have Verbrugge as our first CommTrac customer in mainland Europe following our recent successes in the US, Canada, and Australia,” Trueman noted.

As Verbrugge International embraces Konecranes’ terminal software solutions, the industry witnesses a progressive shift towards advanced technology adoption, signaling a new era in maritime logistics.
