3P Logistics Navigates Uncharted Waters for Sustainable Mineral Fertiliser Plant in Sweden

3P Logistics recently undertook the complex task of transporting project cargo destined for a revolutionary sustainable mineral fertiliser plant in Sweden. The innovative facility is designed to utilize residual materials from both EV battery manufacturing and the pulp industry as its primary feedstock.

The intricate logistics dance unfolded as the cargo embarked on a journey from China to its final destination, the Port of Köpmanholmen in Sweden. The shipment encompassed two substantial breakbulk items and an impressive seven out-of-gauge (OOG) units. Notably, a colossal crystallizer, towering at an astounding seven meters, claimed the title of the largest single item ever handled by 3PL in terms of size.

To orchestrate this intricate global ballet, 3PL collaborated with CMA CGM and their LNG-powered container vessel, the Concorde, bound for Hamburg. Ilya Goncharov, the global project manager at 3PL, alongside Niels Chr. V. Andersen, the group project director, masterfully oversaw the operation from its inception to the final bow.

Upon arrival in Hamburg, the next act of this logistical performance unfolded. 3PL coordinated the use of a floating crane, deftly unloading the cargo from the container ship and carefully loading it onto a barge. Navigating between terminals at the bustling Port of Hamburg, the cargo was then deftly transferred onto a breakbulk vessel, charting its course towards Sweden. Upon reaching the Port of Köpmanholmen, the cargo met its final destination, where two mighty mobile cranes took center stage, delicately unloading the cargo and concluding this maritime spectacle.

This feat not only highlights 3P Logistics’ prowess in handling intricate project cargo but also underscores the industry’s commitment to sustainable practices. As the curtain falls on this remarkable journey, the logistics world eagerly anticipates the next grand production, as innovation and sustainability take center stage.
