Powering Progress: Transporting 2 Power Plant Units from Finland to Senegal & Djibouti

Bolloré Logistics, a global leader in innovative and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy market, has recently undertaken a significant project. Their Energy & Projects Team in France has been entrusted with the transportation of two power plant units, including gensets 12V32 types, each weighing 100 tons. The journey entails moving these units from the Port of loading in Finland to their final destination sites in Senegal and Djibouti.

This venture highlights Bolloré Logistics’ expertise in handling complex and heavy cargo across vast distances. To ensure the smooth execution of this project, two heavy lift vessels have been part chartered. Additionally, hydraulic trailers and heavy-duty trucks have been mobilized to facilitate the transportation process.

In Senegal, where one of the power plant units is destined, extensive preparations have been made to accommodate the cargo’s arrival. Over 60 kilometers of tracks have been refurbished, leveled, and compacted to create a safe transport route spanning 790 kilometers from the port of Dakar to the final installation site.
