Allseas Secures T&I Contract for Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm

Allseas, a prominent player in the offshore energy sector, has clinched a significant transport and installation (T&I) contract for the Gennaker offshore wind farm located in the German Baltic Sea. Developed by transmission operator 50Hertz, the Gennaker project is poised to become the largest and most powerful offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, boasting a formidable production capacity of 900 MW.

The contract entails the transportation and installation of two crucial substations, known as OSS (offshore substation), for the Gennaker offshore wind farm. These substations, designated as Gennaker West (OSS-DarB) and Gennaker East (OSS-Zingst), will play a pivotal role in the efficient transmission of generated wind energy to the mainland grid.

Awarded by the Dutch-Belgian HSI consortium – comprising HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders, and Iv – the contract underscores the collaborative efforts driving the offshore wind industry forward. The HSI Joint Venture is tasked with delivering the two converter platforms essential for the project’s success.

Allseas will leverage its state-of-the-art heavy lift vessel, the Pioneering Spirit, for executing the project. Renowned for its unparalleled transport and lift capabilities, the Pioneering Spirit will undertake the installation of the suction buckets jackets and the substantial topsides, measuring 61 meters in length and 34 meters in width, in a single offshore campaign. This streamlined approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also enhances safety standards, making the installations safer and faster.

By securing this contract, Allseas further solidifies its position as a leading provider of offshore wind installation services. The deployment of the Pioneering Spirit underscores its commitment to delivering critical assets for offshore energy and wind developments across Europe. This latest endeavor underscores Allseas’ dedication to advancing renewable energy initiatives and underscores the industry’s collective efforts towards achieving sustainable energy goals.
