Antonov Delivers Guadeloupe Generators

Heavy-cargo aviation firm Antonov Airlines has delivered a cargo of generators from France to the Caribbean as part of recovery in the wake of recent hurricanes.

The consignment comprised 32 portable generators for EDF Group that weighed a total of 105 tonnes. They were flown aboard an AN-124-100 aircraft from Châteauroux, France, to Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe.

“The aircraft was in Cairns, Australia, at the time the charter was confirmed, which meant we had to respond promptly to move it halfway around the world … The AN-124-100s’ unique onboard crane system, which has a lift capacity of 30 tonnes, allowed for a safe loading and unloading process, without the need for a special ground infrastructure at the airport,” said Paul Furlonger of Antonov Airlines.

Antonov Airlines provides heavy-lift air freight and transport for out-sized cargoes to the oil and gas, energy, aerospace, agriculture, telecommunications and space industries.
