Brisbane Airport Breaks Ground on $50 Million Parcel Facility for Australia Post

Brisbane Airport is embarking on a significant endeavor with the initiation of a $50 million parcel facility dedicated to Australia Post. This colossal project, named the Brisbane North Parcel Facility, marks a substantial addition to Brisbane Airport’s industrial park landscape. The facility, spanning an impressive 33,800 square meters, is poised to become Australia Post’s second-largest site in Queensland.

The core of this development encompasses a meticulously crafted 31,800-square-meter warehouse, seamlessly integrated with 2,000 square meters of commercial office space and a provision for 350 car parking spaces. Anticipated to open its doors in mid-2025, the StarTrack Premium facility promises a remarkable capacity, capable of processing a staggering 176,000 parcels daily, with the flexibility to scale up operations during peak periods.

Gert-Jan de Graaff, the CEO of Brisbane Airport, underscores the strategic significance of this venture, emphasizing its role in optimizing parcel delivery logistics. By facilitating direct airside access to Australia Post, the project aims to streamline the distribution of time-sensitive parcels, catering to the needs of millions of Queensland residents, both in urban centers and regional areas.

Paul Graham, CEO of Australia Post, accentuates the facility’s alignment with the evolving demands of South East Queensland’s burgeoning population, projected to surpass six million by 2032. Against the backdrop of surging e-commerce activities, with 82 percent of Queenslanders engaging in online purchases over the past year, the Brisbane North Parcel Facility emerges as a pivotal asset in enhancing service capabilities and expediting parcel deliveries.

Moreover, Graham underscores the holistic approach adopted by Australia Post, which encompasses not only the expansion of operational infrastructure but also an overarching modernization agenda. In the past year alone, the organization has upgraded 39 network operations sites, underscoring its commitment to optimizing service delivery across the region.

Beyond its operational prowess, the new facility epitomizes a commitment to sustainability, incorporating over 1,000 solar panels for electricity generation. In line with this ethos, the project aspires to attain a coveted 5-Star Green Star certification, underscoring its commitment to energy efficiency, climate resilience, and environmental stewardship.

The Brisbane North Parcel Facility represents a pivotal milestone in Brisbane Airport’s ambitious $5 billion Future BNE program. Beyond facilitating seamless connectivity, both domestically and internationally, the expanded industrial park is poised to accommodate a diverse array of tenants, including prominent entities such as Martin Brower, Aramex Australia, Superior Food Services, and Air Menzies.

With its strategic location and robust infrastructure, the Brisbane North Parcel Facility is poised to redefine parcel logistics in Queensland, ushering in an era of efficiency, sustainability, and enhanced customer service.
