As deugro, a prominent heavy lift and project cargo specialist, celebrates its centenary at the Breakbulk Middle East event in Dubai from February 12-13, 2024, it unveils plans to intensify its focus on the wind and renewables industries.

Established in 1924 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, deugro has strategically shifted its attention to the burgeoning green energy sector in recent years. Steffen Behrens, President Middle East, expressed excitement about commemorating this milestone in a region that mirrors the dynamic growth of renewables.

“Doubling down on our efforts to support the booming global energy transition landscape is a natural next step in our evolution, and we are excited to be able to provide the technical skills, specialist assets, and wealth of experience to support the industry at this critical time,” Behrens said.

Having entered the Middle East market in Saudi Arabia in June 1982, deugro has expanded its footprint with eight regional offices in five countries, including the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar.

In addition to contributing to major solar farms across the Middle East, deugro recently accomplished the transportation of super heavy lift cargoes for the world’s largest green hydrogen plant in Saudi Arabia. This plant is poised to fuel green ammonia production for exportation.

Thomas Wylie, Head of Global Strategic Projects at deugro, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation and supply chain excellence. “We remain more committed than ever to driving innovation and supply chain and logistics excellence, capitalizing on more than a century of expertise, all aimed at ensuring that our clients everywhere on the planet are able to exceed their growth ambitions and overcome the challenges of today,” Wylie stated.

Founded by a family now in its third generation, deugro operates a vast network of over 70 company-owned offices in more than 40 countries. The company specializes in project freight forwarding, ocean transportation, transport and marine engineering, and heavy haulage and equipment management.

As deugro embarks on its centenary celebrations, the commitment to renewable energy marks a strategic move aligning with global sustainability efforts.
