To accomplish this, Fagioli employed a combination of specialized transport equipment, including Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) with up to 24 axle lines, modular trailers equipped with girder beams (up to 32 axle lines), and Gantry Lifting Systems.
The journey of these hefty items commenced in Genoa, where they were transported from the manufacturing area to the port for loading. From there, they embarked on a maritime voyage, arriving at the port of Venice. At Venice, the items were transshipped onto a Fagioli barge, which navigated through inland waterways to reach the Cremona River port. At Cremona, Fagioli utilized its proprietary yard, complete with a 400-ton Gantry Lifting System, for the unloading operations.
The journey continued via modular trailers, with multiple configuration changes along the route. Finally, dedicated SPMTs were employed for the last leg of the transportation, especially in restricted areas where maneuverability is paramount. Notably, Gantry Lifting Systems played a crucial role not only in the transportation phase but also in the final installation onto the foundations at the Leini Power Station site.
One remarkable aspect of this operation is the sheer magnitude of the items transported, with some weighing up to 270 tons. Such heavy loads necessitate meticulous planning, precise execution, and the use of state-of-the-art equipment, all of which Fagioli demonstrated admirably.
