Dr. Tobias Burger Takes the Helm as COO Air & Sea Logistics at Dachser

Dachser, the global logistics provider, welcomes Dr. Tobias Burger, 46, as the new COO Air & Sea Logistics and a member of the Executive Board. This move follows the retirement of Edoardo Podestà, 61, who dedicated over 20 years to Dachser, the last four as the head of air and sea freight.

Bernhard Simon, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Dachser, underscores the strategic transition in the leadership of the Air & Sea Logistics business field. “The thoroughly prepared handover at the top of the Air & Sea Logistics business field reflects the targeted and long-term oriented further development of our intercontinental network.”

Edoardo Podestà‘s significant contribution to the company’s growth, especially in Asia, is acknowledged by Simon. “With Dr. Tobias Burger, we now have an experienced logistics strategist at the helm of our Air & Sea Logistics organization who has a deep and holistic understanding of the complex challenges facing the global logistics markets now and in the future.”

Tobias Burger, holding a doctorate in business administration, started his journey with Dachser in 2009. His extensive career includes roles in controlling, strategy development, and overseeing the strategic development of the global air and sea freight network. Burger’s task as COO is clear – to drive Dachser’s growth in global markets, particularly in Asia and the Americas.

Burkhard Eling, CEO of Dachser, emphasizes the company’s focus on offering customers a comprehensive solution for groupage services worldwide. Eling states, “This Global Groupage offering, delivered by an integrated network with comprehensive contract logistics capabilities, definitely calls for a powerful air and sea freight organization with a global presence.”

As Edoardo Podestà concludes his successful career, Dachser looks ahead under the leadership of Dr. Tobias Burger, aiming for continued growth and success in the ever-evolving global logistics landscape.

Dachser, a family-owned company headquartered in Kempten, Germany, provides transport logistics, warehousing, and customized services globally. With a consolidated net revenue of approximately EUR 8.1 billion in 2022 and a strong presence in 41 countries, Dachser remains a key player in the logistics industry.
